So now we have our social network site established and it is linked on our resume. And we have the three versions of the resume we will need to send to employers. All we need next is to find the jobs right? Right!

 

Jobs can be found online on job board sites like Monster.com™, by social networking sites like LinkedIn®, by newspaper ads, and by job hotlines that companies enlist.

 

If you haven’t already signed up to the following please sign up and create accounts. Once your accounts are created, upload or post your resumes to them. The following sites are:

 

The next step is to do some local research at the companies you may want to work for, regardless of if they have open positions or not.

 

 

  • Think of your last employers competitors and create a list of these company names.
  • Think of companies or brands you may want to work at in your industry and create a list of these companies.

 

Find the addresses and telephones of these companies. Try to compile a list between 10-20 companies. Then call each one and get the “job hotline.” Take note of the hours of operation for walk-in candidates, and any special instructions HR wants you to take.

 

Listen to all the open positions on the job hotlines and pick a couple. “Save” (bookmark) the positions you want to apply for online.
